⛏️ What if the past could inspire the future?

Last Thursday, 57 colleagues from Celabor srl travelled back in time… by descending into the depths of Blegny-Mine! 😊

Between the mine tour, the discovery of the Marie shaft, an epic escape game, a visit to the spoil heap biotope (a must for those who don’t extract coal but high value-added molecules 😉), and the great moments shared together, this team-building day also brought us some powerful emotions.

Because it is difficult to walk through those galleries without thinking of the people who worked there. The men and women whose courage commands respect, and the engineers whose ingenuity helped overcome the challenges of their time. And what can be said about the solidarity and collaborative spirit that existed deep underground, where teamwork was far more than a value. It was a necessity. ❤️

All of these people helped shape our landscapes, our culture, and our economy. An extraordinary story of which we can be proud!

Back then, coal was the driving force behind our prosperity. A natural resource that made Wallonia a major industrial region.

And this is where the visit takes on a particularly meaningful dimension for us at Celabor. 🌱

What if the natural resources around us became the wealth of tomorrow? That is what drives us every day: unlocking the value of animal and plant-based resources, creating new uses for them while respecting their nature, sometimes even giving them a second life, and in doing so contributing to a more circular economy and to a Wallonia that continues to innovate and remain competitive.

Times change, and so do resources… but the desire to innovate, to build, and to succeed together is something that deserves to stand the test of time. 🤝

And since the bioeconomy also includes the agri-food sector, we enjoyed a delicious protein-rich meal together (animal-based or alternative proteins, that’s something we know a thing or two about at Celabor!).

We left with smiles on our faces, a few unforgettable memories, and a deep respect for those who wrote this chapter of our history.

🙏 A huge thank you to the team at Blegny-Mine for their warm welcome, for introducing us to this exceptional heritage site, featuring facilities that are sometimes unique in Europe, and above all, our sincere admiration for the guides whose words and stories were filled with passion, respect, and emotion.
