R&D Themes

CELABOR develops and participates in R&D projects in the fields of water and waste treatment.

In the field of water treatment, CELABOR develops new processes for treating industrial or municipal wastewater through advanced oxidation and electro-photocatalysis. The objective is to degrade persistent pollutants such as micropollutants, pharmaceutical compounds, and PFAS before discharging water into surface water or sewers, or before water reuse to prevent micropollutant concentration. CELABOR also develops physicochemical treatment processes for industrial wastewater through optimization via Jar-Tests. Additionally, CELABOR has participated in various projects on the development of low-energy disinfection processes for water exiting treatment plants or for bathing water.

In the field of waste treatment, CELABOR is developing a new biodegradable bioflocculant for the flocculation of sewage sludge in treatment plants. This bioflocculant of bacterial origin will enable sustainable and safe valorization of sludge in agriculture. CELABOR is also interested in rare earth recycling from electronic waste and has developed a process for specific selection of rare earths in electronic waste mixtures.
