Eco-design of circular plastic materials in the construction sector.

Create circular materials in the construction sector by valorizing waste from other industrial processes or by using renewable materials.

The industrial sector’s need to recycle existing buildings, and the need to find new, more circular materials, is the driving force behind the Up Plastics project. This collaborative project, bringing together 6 research centers and 3 universities in Wallonia, makes it possible to focus research on more circular solutions around 2 main themes:
  • Bio-based coatings and paints
  • Thermal and acoustic insulation: foam and fiber-based insulation materials.
These themes were identified in collaboration with several industrial players in the construction sector to better understand their challenges.
