SLUDGE2BBI Ongoing

Production of PHAs for bio-based chemistry from sewage sludge and organic materials

Development of PHA extraction technologies from sewage sludge to produce biodegradable, bio-based building blocks for green chemistry.

The SLUDGE2BBI project aims to develop technologies for enriching and extracting PHA from sludge produced by wastewater treatment, using organic by-products, in order to produce biodegradable, bio-based building blocks for green chemistry. The originality of the SLUDGE2BBI project therefore lies in producing high value-added molecules from two waste sources: organic waste mainly of agri-food origin and wastewater treatment plant sludge; rather than from raw materials such as agricultural production, algae, starch, etc. Learn more about the SLUDGE2BBI project
